Volunteers from Sustainable Cupar's FAB (fruit and blossom) group started the winter pruning of the fruit trees in Orchard Walk. These trees were planted by the council and Sustainable Cupar is now managing these fruit trees. Some volunteers collected litter and four bags of rubbish was collected.
The group was awarded £250 from an Action Earth campaign organised by CSV (Community Service Volunteers). The Fruit and Blossom group have been able to buy a set of pruning tools using this fund. These tools are available to members of the group for pruning. We are also spending some of the money on tuition on pruning and planting with Andrew Lear. The other part of the money is being spent on bird and bat boxes for orchard walk. FAB has put up 15 boxes already along the walk.
Everybody can get involved with conserving biodiversity. We have rich habitats in Cupar - come and join us and have some good fun and exercise whilst enjoying the outdoors.
